Tutankhamun’s Dagger Comes From Outer Space

Tutankhamun’s Dagger Comes From Outer Space
The ancient Egyptians called the material sky iron – that was a wise guess, as it turns out: The daggers belonging to Tutankhamun did actually come from above.
As it turns out, the dagger of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun partly originates from space: Its blade is made of a meteorite, researchers report after investigating the weapon.
The approximately 30-centimeter-long dagger fascinated experts with its beauty for a long time. The Egyptians had a nickname for the material: sky iron.

By naming it so, they were probably correct, as proven by X-ray analysis: The blade consists of iron, nickel and cobalt. The proportions of the substances correspond to those in meteorites found in the area around Egypt, writes researcher Daniela Comelli from the Universoty Politecnico di Milano in Italy. This strongly hints the suspected extraterrestrial origin of the blade.
The famous grave of Tutankhamun was a rich treasury. Hundreds of artifacts were decorated with precious stones and gold. And now it’s clear: Some of them are not of this world.

The king’s two daggers, one with a blade of gold, the other of iron, from the tomb of the pharaoh Tutankhamun, discovered in the Valley of the Kings, Thebes, Egypt, North Africa, Africa.
